Michael's Bio

Michael Passmore is the founder of Passmore Ranch, an ever-growing 86 acre ranch nestled in Sloughhouse, California. Since it’s start in 2005 the ranch has become known for sustainably raising freshwater fish and heirloom vegetables, rearing goat and lamb, and crafting some of the world’s best caviar. Passmore Ranch’s clientele includes many of the best chefs in the world, many of which have been recognized by James Beard and Michelin.

Always innovative and active in the food, agriculture, and aquaculture community, Michael serves on the board of directors for California Aquaculture Association, is an elected member of the USDA’s Farm Service Agency County Committee, and has been featured in numerous publications including Food & Wine and San Francisco Chronicle. Most evenings you’ll find Michael out on his porch overlooking the ranch’s waters with his wife Vandy, their fur child Mattis, and a glass of something good and red in hand.
